What’s up models! If you’re reading this, you’re dreaming big—and guess what? That dream of walking in New York Fashion Week September 2025 is totally within reach.

NYFW is one of the “Big Four” fashion weeks globally—and it’s a one-of-a-kind platform where dreams take runway shape. The September edition is celebrated for spotlighting fall and winter collections—expect energy, creativity, and a chance to network with key players. Plus, this season leans into inclusivity, diverse casting, and fresh faces—exactly your time to shine.

I’ve made a quick video sharing my personal journey and tips—check it out here:

1. Know the Timeline & Casting Sources

  • Casting calls usually pop up 1–2 months before NYFW. For September 2025, keep eyes peeled from July to late-August.
  • Look out for open calls via modeling platforms like Fashion Week Online, Modnet, Backstage, and Casting Networks—and don’t forget @fashionweekonline and designer Instagram pages.
  • Some events are listed on Eventbrite—for example, Revive Fashion Week holds a casting on **September 11, 2025**, at G Gallery in NYC. Inclusive of all genders.
  • And over on AllCasting, there’s a “Model of the Year Show” casting in Brooklyn around **September 12, 2025**

2. Build a Portfolio that Shouts “Pick Me!”

Castings expect polished but real. Here’s what you should have:

  • Digitals: Clean, well-lit, minimal makeup—natural you.
  • Runway walk video: 30–60 seconds of your walk, captured professionally or cleanly filmed.
  • Comp card: Best images with accurate stats—height, measurements, contact.
  • Social media presence: A strong Instagram portfolio can make all the difference.

3. Get Your Casting Game On

  • Always be camera-ready—fitted black attire, natural makeup (for women), clean grooming (for men), and any footwear guidelines.
  • Arrive early, stay calm, and show professionalism. Punctuality = model respect.
  • Know casting expectations—height, size, walk, etc.—then tailor your approach. There’s room for every body type.

4. Nail Your Runway Walk & Backstage Vibe

Confidence = key. Keep your energy high, even when you’re wiped from travel or prep. Runways aren’t always straight—brace for the unexpected.

Every show is a team. Be kind backstage, help when you can, and stay present. Being professional and easygoing gets you noticed—for all the right reasons.

5. Be Flexible, Persistent & Network Hard

  • Expect last-minute schedule changes—stay available and adaptable.
  • Start with indie and indie-aligned shows to build experience before chasing bigger ones.
  • Network at shows and events—even as an audience member, your presence counts.

6. Know How Agencies & Agents Work the Magic

Agency representation can fast-track your way to high-profile shows—but independent models can still walk via open calls and indie platforms.

Agents handle logistics and pitching… but you still need to stand out and prove you belong there.

Wrapping It Up

In short—here’s your blueprint:

  • Act now: Scan casting platforms and social accounts starting July–August.
  • Get your materials polished: Digitals, comp card, walk video, social media, all set.
  • Show up strong: Be confident, professional, and flexible during castings & shows.
  • Stay in the game: Network, stay resilient, and grow your relationships.

Remember, walking NYFW is about more than one show—it’s about launching your path in fashion. You’ve got nothing to lose, and so much to gain. Let’s do this!
